Deux Grammy's pour des artistes français
Congratulations to Cecilia Bartoli, who won the Grammy for "Best Classical Vocal Performance" for her to Interpret Sacrificium album, also nominated in the category of Best Classical Album .
Congratulations to David Guetta, who won for the second consecutive year, the Grammy for best remix for the song Revolver.
And a nod to the other nominees French: Pierre Boulez, nominated like every year since ... always as the best conductor this year with the symphony orchestra Chicago for their interpretation of Pulcinella and Symphony in Three Movements by Stravinsky.
Tijoux Ana, whose album 1977, I highly recommend, was nominated in the category Latin rock-alternative-urban . The French public does not know, and for good reason: although Franco-Argentine, she sings in English.
And last but not least, Bob Sinclar, who recorded his album with reggae legends Sly & Robbie. Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare had provided the rhythmic base on the two reggae albums of Serge Gainsbourg (La Marseillaise and Bad New Star ) and those thereafter, Grace Jones. Nominated in the category "Best Reggae Album", "Made in Jamaica " would in my opinion deserved the Grammy. You decide.
Apart from that, it's always special times when Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger take the stage. Especially the Grammy's. Congratulations to Muse, and bravo to Eminem and Dr Dre for their brilliant performances.

Vive L'Amour opening party with Scopitones & Umbrellas of Cherbourg
French food truck! Valentine's crafting! More!
"People only die of love in movies.” – Madame Emery, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
Heartbreaking and lovely, drenching drab realities in a multi-colored shower of visual design, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is both a wondrous fantasy and a sadly realistic love tragedy -- a sublime contradiction. Director Jacques Demy takes a prosaic story about the thwarted and unfortunate love between a car mechanic and a shopgirl, constructed out of everyday utterances and depressingly believable life-changing decisions, and then sets it all to song; he takes the real locations of provincial Cherbourg, and literally repaints them to be as saturated as the film’s costumes and props. It is an amazingly confident formal coup that works to powerful emotional effect. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is beautiful in more ways than can be counted: Michel Legrand’s justly famous music, Catherine Deneuve’s youthful angelic countenance, and a romance so poignant that, like all true love, it lingers long after its final luminous image. Join us on the Cinefamily backyard English patio for drinks, snacks and dancing after the film, to celebrate the opening night of our February series "Vive L'Amour", featuring 7 French classics programmed around the theme of love!
Dir. Jacques Demy, 1964, 35mm, 91 min.
